The Parent-Child Home Program is a home-based early literacy and parenting program serving families in Taunton with children aged 18 months to four years.  Participants may be low income and have limited educational opportunities, support and resources.

Trained Home Visitors meet with families twice a week for up to two years.  During play sessions with the parent and child, the Home Visitors model parenting techniques.  They emphasize verbal interaction and learning through play, using carefully chosen books and toys. Families are given these books and toys to keep at no charge.

Program Goals:

·
To recognize and assist to facilitate the parents’ role as their child’s first teacher
·
To support and reinforce parents’ skills in enhancing their child’s cognitive development and school readiness
·
To provide referral information and collaboration with appropriate services.
·
To strengthen parent-child relationships through positive modeling of early literacy techniques and play.
