Welcome to TASC

TASC is a non-profit educational partnership, which provides a necessary linkage between school and the world of work, career and life through activities such as Job Shadowing, Student Internships, Teacher Externships and the Career Mentor Program. TASC serves students from Bristol County Agricultural High School, Taunton High School and the Taunton Alternative High School. Benefits

The contribution is far reaching; students, businesses, and society gain from the collaborative experience of employers, students, and schools coming together to enhance the quality and skills of future workers. Students are more motivated to learn. They are able to see how education is relevant to their future. It helps them to develop goals for the future at a time when, for many students, it is hard to see beyond high school. Businesses have a chance to improve the curriculum to resemble work outside of school. Society benefits because it is able to stay competitive in a global economy. This is especially important given that the school-business partnership model is well under way in other industrial countries.

Support for Educators

Though educators may not realize it, the programs offered through TASC not only benefit the students and businesses but it also benefits the teachers as well. Through Academic Support, Work and Learning (Project Achieve) TASC works in conjunction with educators to augment their teaching by offering MCAS tutoring to students in both math and language arts.

• Teachers can also actively take part and benefit by participating in the Teacher Externship Program. Teachers are able to create more relevant lesson plans that relate to the real world or that engage students in solving real world problems.
• Teachers gain a better understanding of what their students need to know when they enter the workforce.
• Teachers are better able to articulate to students how they will use their academic skills in the workforce.

Student Benefits

“What can TASC’s programs do for me?” a student might ask. TASC offers students a variety of programs that can assist students in many different areas from MCAS tutoring, help in finding a job, and career exploration, just to name a few. Students also have the opportunity to work with a Career Specialist, who consults with students not sure of a career path for the future.
